WALTER

Arrived 2-3-26

UPDATE 5/1 – WALTER has made really great progress within the last couple of weeks. One of our wonderful volunteers has been working on brushing him (which he really needs it) and he is happily allowing her to do so! He enjoys the little squeeze tubes of wet food and is also really starting to enjoy being pet by multiple staff members/volunteers! He is SO much happier than when he first came in and it makes US really happy to see it. We also have some pretty vocal cats in the cat room at the moment and sometimes he’ll sit there and chirp back at them which is really cute. 🙂

This sweet guy is WALTER, about a 10 year old male cat that was brought in as stray and never claimed. Poor WALTER came to us in pretty rough shape, his eyes were practically glued shut from all of the gunk built up in them. We started him on eye meds and continue to clean them out almost daily and they seem to be clearing up a fair amount.  He doesn’t love being handled yet so it does make it a little difficult but he is much more reluctant to be pet when the cat room is calm and quiet. He has shown us a little bit of affection here and there so we’re very hopeful he will come around sooner than later. We would love to find WALTER a nice, quiet home that will allow him to adjust and come out of his shell on his own time. We don’t know what happened to him out on the streets but we can only imagine he’s had a pretty rough life. He seems curious about the other cats here so maybe a home with other feline friends will help him feel more comfortable!
